2018/19 Season Preview

Rachel Willis- Sørensen’s 2018/19 season features two highly anticipated role debuts and more iconic roles at leading opera companies throughout Europe and the United States.

Ms. Willis-Sørensen begins her season with her house debut at Teatro Regio Torino in her debut as Leonora in Verdi’s Il trovatore directed by Paul Curran and led by Pinchas Steinburg (October 10, 13, 16, 18, 21). After her successful debut at the Bayerische Staatsoper earlier this year, she returns to reprise the role of Hélène in Verdi’s Les vêpres siciliennes (November 10, 13, 18, 20). Rachel again takes the stage at the Deutsche Oper Berlin, to sing Rosalinde in Rolando Villazón’s production of Strauss’ Die Fledermaus (December 26, 31 & January 1), and returns to The Metropolitan Opera as Donna Anna in Mozart’s Don Giovanni, sharing the stage with a spectacular roster of artists led by Cornelius Meister (January 30 & February 2, 6, 9, 13, 16).

Concluding her season, Ms. Willis-Sørensen makes her highly anticipated debut in the title role of Dvořák’s Rusalka at the San Francisco Opera. The Prince will be Brandon Jovanovich, Ferruccio Furlanetto will sing Vodník and Ježibaba will be portrayed by Jamie Barton. Eun Sun Kim conducts the San Francisco Opera orchestra, for performances featuring a David McVicar production (June 16, 19, 22, 25, 28).
