A Return to the Bayerische Staatsoper as Contessa

Ms. Willis-Sørensen returns to the Bayerische Staatsoper in Munich as Contessa Almaviva in the amusing and chaotic romp of Mozart’s Le Nozze di Figaro (Marriage of Figaro). This riff off The Barber of Seville brings Figaro to his wedding day, along with a host of other would-be lovers in a non-stop parade of imbroglios.

An opera buffa in four parts, Figaro offers endless plots and sub-plots as each character tries to outwit and circumnavigate grudges, jealousies, and all of love’s machinations. For two night only, Christof Loy’s production of Le Nozze di Figaro under the baton of conductor Ivor Bolton is performed in this charming Bavarian city as part of the Operfestspiele. Ms. Willis-Sørensen is joined by Mariusz Kwiecień as the Count, Alex Esposito as Figaro, and Olga Kulchynska as Susanna. Figaro runs July 5 and 7.
