Concert at the Théâtre des Champs-Elysées Broadcast on France Musique

Rachel Willis-Sørensen

Ms. Willis-Sørensen’s concert with the Orchestre National de France at the Théâtre des Champs-Elysées, which took place in October 2021, has been broadcast on Radio France Musique, and is now available for replay. The programme features Strauss’ well-known work, the poignant Vier Letzte Lieder, which Rachel performed to great acclaim at Buckingham Palace for Prince Charles’ 70th Birthday in 2018, as well as one of Beethoven’s overtures composed for his opera Leonore, which he later revised and became Fidelio. In the intermission you can hear two beautiful duets sung by Rachel and Jonas Kaufmann from his 2019 “Wien” tour album; the first is from Strauss’ Die Fledermaus (“Dieser Anstand so manierlich”) and the second is from Lehar’s Die Lustige Witwe (“Lippen schweigen”). The concert ends with an excerpt of Strauss’ Capriccio (the final scene) followed by Beethoven’s Egmont overture. Conducted by Cristian Măcelaru, this beautiful selection of music is available on replay worldwide.
