House Debut at Oper Frankfurt as Elsa in Lohengrin

Ms. Willis-Sørensen makes her house debut at Oper Frankfurt to perform the role of Elsa in Wagner’s romantic opera, Lohengrin. Her last public performance as Elsa was at the Opernhaus Zürich in 2017, under the baton of Fabio Luisi. She was due to perform the role at Deutsche Oper Berlin last season but this was canceled due to COVID-19. Composed during the German Revolutions of 1848-9, Lohengrin reflects Wagner’s reaction to the tumultuous social upheavals of the time, expressing his utopian desires for another world order. Conducted by Sebastian Weigle, Jens-Daniel Herzog’s 20th-century production presents unreal heavenly worlds in which idealism and fears collide. Ms. Willis-Sørensen is joined by esteemed colleagues AJ Glueckert as Lohengrin and Jamilia Kaiser as Ortrud.

Performances are set for April 09, 15, 17, 24, and 29.
