Desdemona at the Bayerische Staatsoper

Ms. Willis-Sørensen returns to one of her signature roles, Desdemona in Otello at the Bayerische Staatsoper, as she jumps in for one performance this November 11th. Her debut in this role and reprisal at the Wiener Staatsoper was met with great acclaim, as was her interpretation during her LA Opera debut earlier in the year. Opera Today commended her performance, stating: “Mme. Willis-Sørensen brings a full-bodied, mature voice to Desdemona, and consummate artistry in her delivery.” This acclaimed adaptation of Shakespeare’s original work tells a gripping story that delves into the complexities of human emotions pushed to their limits. Arsen Soghomonyan performs the title role, while Christopher Maltman sings Jago. This production by Amélie Niermeyer is conducted by Maestro Francesco Ivan Ciampa.
