La Traviata at LA Opera
After her successful house debut last season as Desdemona in Verdi’s Otello in which the LA Times hailed her as: “a true Verdian, a spinto soprano with a voluptuous tone”, Ms. Willis-Sørensen returns to LA Opera to perform another one of her favorite Verdi roles, Violetta in La Traviata. Her debut performance of the role in Bordeaux was described by Olyrix as: “extremely seductive, as evidenced by the ovation that the audience gives her at the end: the voice is opulent, generous and the singing line is very expressive. It is an understatement to say that she is expressive, as a thousand things could be said about her inexhaustible ability to render the word its accuracy, the phrase its musicality, the emotion its disconcerting simplicity…” This time, under the baton of Maestro James Conlon, Ms. Willis-Sørensen shares the stage with Liparit Avetisyan as Alfredo Germont, Kihun Yoon as Giorgio Germont and Patrick Blackwell as Baron Douphol. Performances take place on April 6th, 14th, 18th, 21st, 24th, and 27th.
