Two Operas at Santa Fe Opera

To finish her 2023/24 season, Ms. Willis-Sørensen returns to Santa Fe Opera to perform the role of The Marschallin in R. Strauss’ Der Rosenkavalier in a new production by Bruno Ravella, set in the 1950s in a co-production with Garsington Opera and the Irish National Opera. Her performance of the role at the Semperoper Dresden in 2019 was praised by Das Opernmagazin, which claimed: “Rachel Willis-Sørensen performed this role for the first time on the German stage and immediately showed that she is on a par with the great exponents of this role. Very expressive and self-confident, but at the same time forceful and controlled, with a touch of wit and sophistication, her voice sparkled almost effortlessly.” Under the baton of Maestra Karina Canellakis, Ms. Willis-Sørensen is joined by Paula Murrihy as Octavian, Ying Fang as Sophie and Matthew Rose as Baron Ochs.

Performances take place on July 20th, 24th; August 2nd, 8th and 15th. For tickets and further information, click here.

She alternates this role with performances of Donna Anna in Don Giovanni. Stephen Barlow directs a new production set in Victorian London viewed through the lens of Oscar Wilde’s The Picture of Dorian Gray. Ms. Willis-Sørensen is joined by Ryan Speedo Green in his role debut as Don Giovanni, the company debut of Rachael Wilson as Donna Elvira, Nicholas Newton as Leporello and Liv Redpath as Zerlina.

Performances take place on July 29th, and August 3rd, 6th, 16th, 21st and 23rd. For tickets and further information, click here.
