/ Critical Acclaim
The first-rate, particularly homogeneous vocal cast is dominated by the very eloquent role debut of Rachel Willis-Sørensen (Mimi): she transmits power with nicely nuanced vocal lines, as well as with her fluidity in the "parlar cantando," length of breath, well-contained vibrato, and extended ambitus response to a Jonas Kaufmann (Rodolfo) with a somewhat dark timbre that impresses with its vocal ease in all registers, moving the fragility of its spun highs, making the duet of love a very romantic Act I, a moment of intense emotion.
