Debut at Opéra national de Paris
Following her highly successful portrayal of Desdemona in Verdi’s Otello at the Wiener Staatsoper last month, Ms. Willis-Sørensen makes her first house debut of the season, at Opéra national de Paris, performing the role of Antonia in Offenbach’s Les Contes d’Hoffmann, which also marks her role debut. This enchanting opera tells the tale of poet Hoffmann’s three ill-fated loves while exploring themes of passion and the supernatural. Robert Carsen’s production immerses the viewers in the setting of an opera house, taking them from the stage to the behind-the-scenes area. In his captivating mise en abyme, he challenges traditional concepts of the anti-hero and the ideal female figure. Under the baton of Maestra Eun Sun Kim, Ms. Willis-Sørensen performs in a stellar cast, alongside Benjamin Bernheim as Hoffmann, Pretty Yende as Olympia, Antoinette Dennefeld as Giulietta, Christian Van Horn as Lindorf and Angela Brower as Nicklausse.
Performances take place on November 30th; December 3rd, 6th, 9th, 12th, 15th and 18th, 2023.
