Schönberg’s Gurre-Lieder at the DR Koncerthuset
Ms. Willis-Sørensen begins her 2022/23 season with her debut performance of Schönberg’s Gurre–Lieder at the DR Koncerthuset in Copenhagen, Denmark. Written by Danish author, Jens Peter Jacobsen, the texts tell the medieval story of King Waldemar and his beloved Tove, who is eventually murdered by the jealous Queen Helvig. When the bereaved king curses God, he is condemned to fly restlessly through the night. Maestro Fabio Luisi conducts the Danish National Symphony Orchestra and the DR Koncertkoret. Ms. Willis-Sørensen is joined by Catriona Morison (mezzo-soprano), Michael Schade (tenor), Issachah Savage (tenor), David Steffens (baritone), and Thomas Quasthoff (narrator).
Performances are held on 1st and 3rd September.
